“Music from Sounds to Symphonies” for children at Museum L-A

LEWISTON -  On October 17 and 24th, Museum L-A will host two programs for children ages 9-12. The programs “Music from Sounds to Symphonies” will use the current exhibit, "The Power of Music," as their starting point and demonstrate how music can come from all kinds of common objects as well as intricately created instruments. Both programs will take place at Museum L-A, 35 Canal Street in the Bates Mill Complex.

On October 17th, students will hear and identify common instruments, then construct their own instruments out of common items such as a shoebox.  On October 24th, students will learn about orchestras, instruments and facts about famous composers.

The cost of the programs is $8 each or $15 for both programs and will run after school, from 3:30 p.m 5:00 p.m. Pre-registration is required.  Contact the Museum at 333-3881 or for more information or to register a child.
